Delegation of the European Parliament Visited Gallery 11/07/95: “We Have No Right to Forget”

On September 17, 2025, a delegation of five Members of the European Parliament visited the Gallery 11/07/95, guided by curator Emir Begtašagić. Some of the members shared their reflections on what they saw and felt after the tour.

Davor Ivo Stier, Member of the European Parliament, emphasized: “It is shocking to see what people can do to other human beings and how much suffering a person can endure. Srebrenica remains a powerful reminder to all of us of how much the international community has failed, and it leaves no one indifferent. Europe has a responsibility to ensure that such suffering does not fall into oblivion, precisely through the culture of remembrance. We must pass on a clear message to future generations: such a crime must never happen again. Unfortunately, we sent similar messages after the Second World War, and yet the genocide in Srebrenica happened. We have no right to forget.”

Another message came from MEP Irena Joveva: “So many times we have said ‘never again,’ and yet today we are witnessing genocide in Gaza. It is hard to remain optimistic. Still, anyone with a shred of humanity should come and see these images. Perhaps then we would have more hope for the future and for peace. Unfortunately, there are still too many bad people in positions of power who do not allow true peacebuilding.”
