European Night of Museums 2013

On May 18, on the occasion of the International Museum Day and European Night of Museums 2013, visitors of Gallery 11/07/95 will be able to visit the permanent exhibition of the Gallery free of charge, and to attend the screening of “Interrogations”, a film by Namik Kabil.

“Museums (memory + creativity) = Social changes”

Permanent exhibition of Gallery 11/07/95 provides artistic and documentary interpretation of the events that took place in July 1995 in Srebrenica, and its aim is to offer an artistic contribution to creating the culture of remembrance in our society. Reinterpreting the past through its program, Gallery 11/07/95 wants to take part in creating the current social reality.  Consequently, on the occasion of this year’s Night of Museums, and the theme “Museums (memory + creativity) = social changes”, the Gallery offers a free tour through the “Srebrenica” permanent exhibition, and a possibility to attend the screening of the movie “Interrogations” by Namik Kabil. The movie “Interrogations” is focused on our relationship with wartime past. “How do we remember the war? Do we find it difficult to talk about it? Do memories suddenly appear during conversations? “Interrogations” investigate the trauma, but not with the aim of exploring human pain. Rather, this movie tries to open the abyss of denial, which has become the dominant but unspoken dimension of everyday life in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina.”  (Namik Kabil)

For visitors, free admission well be granted for a period form 7 p.m. to 12 p.m. Screening of the movie will start every hour (7, 8, 9, 10, 11 p.m.)
